Fera has recently obtained approval to be a ‘knowledge based partner’ within the KTP programme

Do you have a UK industry client with a scientific challenge they need solving, that they can’t find the full funding for?  Or a recent graduate wanting to work more closely with UK Industry?  If so, KTPs could be the way to make this happen.

Knowledge Transfer Partnerships (KTP) is Europe's leading programme helping businesses to improve their competitiveness and productivity through the better use of knowledge, technology and skills that reside within the UK knowledge base.  KTP projects run from 40 weeks to three years and deliver projects for industry that require additional input from a ‘knowledge based partner’.

Fera has recently obtained approval to be a ‘knowledge based partner’ within the KTP programme. Within a project the knowledge partner works one day every two weeks as a consultant, supporting the graduate in delivering one major project or a series of smaller projects for the industrial partner.

There have been over 3000 KTPs delivered since the programme started, each costing circa £50,000 - £60,000 per year to deliver.  Small and large companies, as defined by the European Union, receive 60% and 40% grant contribution respectively.

Over 85% of all applicants receive funding, which typically takes three to four months to be approved.  Support bodies include: Defra, the Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council, the Technology Strategy Board, Regional Development Agencies and many others.
