National Reference Laboratory (NRL)
The Food and Environment Research Agency acts as National Reference Laboratory under Regulation (EC) No. 882/2004. The Regulation establishes a harmonised framework of rules for Member States to adhere to at a Community level for monitoring and enforcing feed and food law to ensure feed and food is safe and wholesome.
Fera acts as NRL for the following areas:
|Chemical Safety in Food||Chemical Contaminants in Animal Feed|
Fera has been appointed as NRL for all five food contaminants areas where NRLs are required for the UK and Malta.
Fera acts as the NRL for Dioxins and PCBs in Feed for the UK and Malta. This is coupled with the role as NRL for Dioxins and PCBs in Food.
