Other Phytophthora Species
Many different species of Phytophoras are present in the world, including those which are already endemic in the UK. Previously unknown (in the UK) Phytophthoras are detected from time to time, including those which are not listed in the EU Plant Health Directive but have damaging impacts. Improved diagnostic techniques have helped with the identification of such pathogens. Global movement of plants and individuals is likely to have contributed to their spread. Although such pathogens are not listed in the EU Plant Health Directive, national action can be taken when appropriate, to prevent their spread within the UK and to other countries.
