We deliver statutory services in relation to plant health, plant varieties and seeds. We are also responsible for issuing licences to release non-native biocontrol agents in England.
We undertake risk assessment and horizon scanning research on the release of genetically modified organisms (GMOs) for Defra, other Government departments, the European Commission and European Food Safety Authority.
Bee Health Inspectorate
The Bee Health Inspectorate provides an integrated programme of apiary inspections, diagnostics, and training and advice which are provided by a team of experienced practical beekeepers.
